Professor Irving L. Weissman visits the Jagiellonian University in Poland

On January 26-27, 2015, Irving L. Weissman, Professor of Pathology and Development Biology at Stanford University, an expert in the field of stem cell research and an author of more than 700 publications, visited the Jagiellonian University in Poland. Among others, Prof. Weissman gave a lecture about Normal and Neoplastic Stem Cells at the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology.

Looking back, on November 28, 2005, US-Polish Trade Council organized Symposium on Stem Cell Research and Prospect at Stanford University that gathered some of the world’s leading researchers and practitioners in the field of stem cell research. Moderated by Stanford University Associate Dean and Professor, Channing Robertson, the panelists, including Irving L. Weissman, Professor for Clinical Investigation in Cancer Research at Stanford University; 
Dr. Gregorz Breborowicz, President of the Academy of Medicine in Poznan, Poland; 
Dr. Jane S. Lebkowski, Senior Vice President of Regenerative Medicine at Geron Corp.;
 Dr. Maria Michejda from International Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of Immunology at Georgetown University and
 Dr. Mariusz Ratajczak, Director of Stem Cell Biology Program at University of Louisville, discussed trends in research, ethics, commercial application and opportunities to collaborate within the biotechnology industry.
