USPTC and Polonia Technica
On May 13-15, 2011, Polonia Technica (www.polonia-technica.org) celebrated the 70th Anniversary of its founding by Polish émigré engineers, who came to the United States during WWII. The meeting was held in the beautiful building of Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York. At the invitation of the president and former presidents of Polonia Technica– as well as the principal organizers of the celebration, Mr. Ryszard Bąk, Dr. Janusz Romański, and Mr. Janusz Zastocki–US-Polish Trade Council was represented by its Chairman, Prof. Piotr Moncarz. USPTC presented Polonia Technica with a congratulatory commemorative plaque, in recognition of its critical role in shaping and supporting Polish scientific and cross-cultural collaboration. Prof. Moncarz was awarded the title of Honorary Member of Polonia Technica, a distinction shared by such persons as Tadeusz Sendzimir, the father of world’s modern steel industry, Frank Piasecki, one of the fathers of US helicopter industry, Ralph Modjeski, the giant of US bridge builders, and Janusz Liberkowski, winner of the ABC TV award ”American Inventor of 2006.”
